GERMANY-HISTORY-NAZI-PLOETZENSEE
Philipp Freiherr von Boeselager, one of the last surviving members of the resistance involved in the assassination attempt on 20 July 1944 against Hitler, and his wife Rosy walk past the Ploetzensee memorial for the holocaust victims in Berlin on 20 July 2004 (writing means "to the victims of Hitler-s dictatorship from 1933 to 1945"). At Ploetzensee were executed the members of the resistance planning the plot after they were condemned by the public court of justice. The July 20 Plot was a failed coup d-etat initiated by officers of the Wehrmacht. The assassination attempt of 20 July 1944 marked the end of many years of efforts by top administrative officials and members of the military to change the course of the war from the centre of power by putting an end to Hitler-s leadership.
