BOSNIA-ECONOMY-WORKERS-PROTEST
Bosnian workers march through the village of Cerik, as they walk towards the Bosnian-Croatian border, on December 26, 2014. Nearly 200 Bosnian employees left the city of Tuzla on December 24, on a journey of 77 kilometers to the Croatian border, after several state owned factories simply closed and left them jobless and unpaid for the work they provided before factories closed. Croatia, a European Union country, is more prosperous than Bosnia, where unemployment is more than 40 percent. Bosnia's transition to capitalism and a market economy, which began two decades ago, included the privatization of state-owned factories, has left many businesses bankrupt. Existing laws prevent many of the workers from being laid off, but they often don't get paid for their work. AFP PHOTO / ELVIS BARUKCIC
