IRAQ-CONFLICT
Pro-Iraqi government fighters, some belonging to the Iraqi Imam Ali Brigade, take part in an operation to secure an area they seized from the Islamic State (IS) militants in Yathreb near Balad, about 75 kilometres (45 miles) north of Baghdad on December 29, 2014. Iraqi forces backed by Sunni tribes advanced on December 28 into the town of Dhuluiyah, strategically located on roads linking the eastern province of Diyala to Salaheddin province, north of Baghdad in a new attempt to push out Islamic State group jihadists, officials said.
