(FILES) A file picture taken on February 24, 2014 shows a section of the BP ETAP (Eastern Trough Area Project) oil platform in the North Sea, around 100 miles east of Aberdeen, Scotland. European benchmark Brent oil sank under $50 on January 7, 2015 for the first time since 2009, hit by OPEC's stance on maintaining its current production levels, market oversupply, weak demand and the strong dollar, analysts said. In morning London deals, Brent North Sea crude for delivery in February dived to another 5.5-year low at $49.66 a barrel, last seen in late April 2009. AFP PHOTO / POOL / ANDY BUCHANAN
