General Sir Mike Walker speaks at the Ministry of Defence in London after British Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon had announced his defence spending cuts in the House of Commons, 21 July 2004. Britain is to slash around 19,000 posts from its armed forces over the next four years as part of major reforms to shift the military from Cold War priorities, Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon said Wednesday.
