The popular Balogun market in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial hub was gutted by fire early this morning leaving property worth thousands of dollars, including local and imported textiles, shoes and household goods consumed by the fire. However, no life was lost in the inferno, according to officials of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Lagos State Fire Service who were working to put out the fire, but four houses, five plazas including an eight-storey building were razed by the inferno.
