FRANCE-ATTACKS-CHARLIE-HEBDO-POLICE
French gendarmes patrol near the Institut de France on January 12, 2015 in Paris as France announced an unprecedented deployment of thousands of troops and police to bolster security at "sensitive" sites the day after marches that drew nearly four million people across the country in tribute to the 17 victims of a three-day killing spree in Paris. The alert level in shell-shocked France remained at its highest possible as the interior minister announced the deployment of nearly 5,000 police to guard Jewish schools and places of worship.
