SRILANKA-ELEPHANT
An elephant from the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage walks in a river in the village of Pinnawela, some 90 kms north-east of Colombo, on January 18, 2015. The Sri Lankan elephant is listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as the population has declined by at least 50 percent over the last three generations, with the species threatened by habitat loss, degradation and fragmentation.
