INDIA-HEALTH-DISEASES-LEPROSY-FILES
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY ELISABETH ZINGG
(FILES) A file picture taken on August 4, 2009 shows an Indian girl tying a 'rakhi' (sacred thread) onto the wrist of a man suffering from leprosy at the Chetna Leprosy Centre on the eve of the Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan in Siliguri. The bacteria affects the skin and deadens the nerves, meaning sufferers are prone to injure themselves, which results in ulcers and can lead to limb loss. Symptoms can take as long as 20 years to appear. The World Leprosy Day is observed worldwide on January 25, 2015. AFP PHOTO/DIPTENDU DUTTA
