FILES-FRANCE-SACHA DISTEL
(FILES) - Photo taken 22 November 1962 at Paris City Hall shows French singer Sacha Distel (R), winner of the Grand Prix of the French Record Academy along with singer Claude Nougaro (L) and English singer Petula Clark (C). Distel died 22 July 2004 on the French Riviera after a long illness, police said. He was 71. After his first hit "Scoubidou" in 1958, Distel recorded more than 200 tunes, which enjoyed enormous popularity in France and abroad in the 1960s and 1970s. He also appeared in several French films and television productions. AFP PHOTO
