This picture taken on January 15, 2015 shows women praying before releasing fish into a canal to earn 'merit' at a Buddhist temple in Bangkok sheltering a shrine dedicated to the famous ghost 'Nak', a woman who Thais believe lived in Bangkok in the 19th century and died during childbirth while her husband was away fighting a war. From exorcism ceremonies to spirit houses and amulets claiming to make wearers bullet-proof, Thailand is a culture soaked in superstition -- an obsession critics say is holding the nation back.
