SAFRICA-MANDELA-AWARD
Former South African President Nelson Mandela (back) pushes wheelchair-bound fellow recipient and anti-apartheid stalwart Beyers Naude, after Mandela was granted the Freedom of the City of Johannesburg in a ceremony in Soweto 23 July 2004. Mandela said that he was truly honoured to receive the award especially as it bound him to two other former recipients, his late friend and fellow Robben Island prisoner Walter Sisulu and anti-apartheid cleric Beyers Naude.
