Red Army Documentary Hockey
ADVANCE FOR WEEKEND EDITIONS, MARCH 7-8- FILE - In this May 16, 2014, file photo, director Gleb Polsky, left, and Slava Fetisov, the former captain of the Russian Red Army hockey team pose for photographers during a photo call for Red Army at the 67th international film festival in Cannes, southern France. Fetisov grudgingly promised 15 minutes to an American filmmaker who kept pestering the Hall of Fame defenseman to appear in a documentary about the Soviet Union as reflected through its dominant Red Army hockey team. Fetisov ended up spending 18 hours talking to first-time documentarian Gabe Polsky after realizing he had an opportunity to remind Western audiences of the smooth-skating, slick-passing Red Army's halcyon days, which certainly weren't defined by the Miracle on Ice.
