Paulas Window
In this 1947 photo provided by Paula Burger, Holocaust survivor and author Paula Burger poses in a photo made by her father when Burger was a girl living in the Forhenwald displaced persons camp in Germany following the end of WWII and her liberation. Her 2013 memoir, "Paula’s Window: Papa, the Bielski Partisans and a Life Unexpected," tells her story of surviving the Nazi occupation of Eastern Europe as a child under the protection of the partisan fighters who roamed the forest along the border of Poland and Belarus.
