Former German President Walter Scheel and his wife Barbara arrive at the Bayreuth festival house on the so-called "Gruener Huegel" (green hill) in the southern town of Bayreuth, 25 July 2004, prior to the festival-s opening. The 93rd edition of the Bayreuth festival, the annual month-long summer music festival focused exclusively on the works of German composer Richard Wagner starts with a gala performance of "Parsifal", directed by Christoph Schlingensief and conducted by French composer Pierre Boulez.
