Seattle Holdout House
In this photo taken March 12, 2015, the former home of Edith Macefield sits boarded-up in its location tucked-in between a large office and retail building in Seattle. The house, whose former owner refused a $1 million offer to sell, didn't attract any buyers at an auction Friday, March 13. Developers built around the 1,000-square foot house after Macefield famously refused to sell. Macefield stayed in the home for about 50 years until she died in 2008, leaving the house to the foreman of the construction project, who had befriended her. The foreman sold the house in 2009 to a real estate investor whose plans never materialized and the house went into foreclosure. (AP Photo/Elaine Thompson)
