Humane Society International rescues 57 dogs from the dog meat trade in South Korea
IMAGE DISTRIBUTED FOR HUMANE SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL - In this image released on Thursday, March 19, 2015, in January 2015, Humane Society International visited a farm in Hongseong, South Korea, where dogs were being raised for the dog meat trade. HSI and Change for Animals Foundation worked with the farmer and secured an agreement with him to stop raising dogs for food and move permanently to growing crops as a more humane way to make a living. HSI and CFAF are partners in a consortium that is campaigning to end the dog meat trade and is engaging dog meat farmers in South Korea to transition them to alternative livelihoods, such as crop growing.
