Cyprus Laws Protest

Demonstrators gathered outside Parliament to protest against laws that would make it easier for banks to collect on overdue loans. More than half of all loans in Cyprus are bad, the outcome of a prolonged recession. Cyprus received a 10 billion euro rescue to avoid bankruptcy that forced the seizure of uninsured deposits in the country’s two largest lenders to prop up the ailing banking sector.
