Food and Farm Mega Maple
In this March 12, 2015 photo, pipes carry sap from maple trees in the woods north of Island Pond, Vt., to storage tanks before the sap is trucked to a plant in Island Pond where it will be boiled into maple syrup. An out-of-state company could become the largest maple syrup producer in North America, tapping into thousands of acres of maple trees in northern Vermont while a Quebec company has also moved into Island Pond buying syrup from U.S. producers.
