Sulfur - Mining - Indonesia

A miner hard working in one of the most inhospitable offices on the planet, these hardy men make three or more trips each day carrying 70+ lbs of raw sulfur, gathered from the fumaroles at the shore of the lake of sulfuric acid in the summit crater of K. Ijen. The Ijen Crater rises to 2,386m, with a depth of over 175m, making it one of the world's largest craters. Sulfur mining is a major industry in the region at Banyuwangi, East Java.
