Explosion in southeastern Turkey kills 30
Members of Turkey's National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE) carry bodies of victims at the site of an explosion targeting a cultural center in Suruc district of Sanliurfa, Turkey on July 20, 2015. At least 28 people were killed and 100 others injured after an explosion in southeastern Turkish province of Sanliurfa bordering Syria. The blast took place as a group from Turkish left-wing youth associations were preparing to make a press statement in Suruc to announce they would cross into Kobane. The culture center, which is run by the Suruc Municipality under the control of the Peoples? Democratic Party (HDP), frequently hosts visiting journalists and volunteers who work with refugees from Kobane. At least 300 members of the Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF) were staying at the Amara Culture Center as part of a summer expedition to help rebuild Kobane, which lies directly across the border from Suruc.
