The World Trade Organisation salvaged global trade talks focusing on agriculture 01 August 2004 with a last ditch agreement on a compromise to overcome a damaging rift between rich and poor countries. The WTO-s ruling General Council adopted an agreement laying out the path ahead for the deadlocked round of trade talks after all member states agreed on the "Doha work programme", spokesman Keith Rockwell said.
