CUBA-HURRICANE CHARLEY
People carrying some belongings evacuate their homes in the town of Surgidero de Batabano, 60 Km south of Havana, 12 August, 2004, as they flee to safety avoiding the path of Hurricane Charley, as it tores through the Caribbean towards Cuba and the US coast. More than 200,000 residents and 2,000 foreign tourists were evacuated from western Cuba, where electricity was to be shut off and authorities were setting up shelters with food and doctors, as authorities braced for Charley.
