MIDEAST-ISRAEL-PALESTINIAN-SHARON
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon opens the weekly cabinet meeting at his Jerusalem office 15 August 2004. The Israeli cabinet was meeting to ratify the 2005 budget despite opposition from some ministers over the scale of cuts and from the main opposition Labour party which is expected to soon enter a new coalition government. Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week unveiled plans for 1.3 billion dollars worth of cuts in an overall 58 million package, including a 300 million dollar reduction in defence spending.
