CHERBOURG - LANSARE LA APA - SUBMARIN NUCLEAR
French President Emmanuel Macron, CEO of Naval Group Herve Guillou, French Interior Minister Florence Parly and Australian Defence Minister Linda Reynolds during the launch of the submarine built by Naval Group at the French naval base on July 12, 2019, in Cherbourg, north-western France. The 99-metre-long black steel monster is named after Pierre-Andre Suffren, an admiral who distinguished himself against the English in the 18th century. The actual launch will only take place at the end of July, with a three-year delay, before dockside tests, then at sea, and its delivery to the French Navy in Toulon before summer 2020.
