March 14, 2021, Hachioji, Japan: A monk helps a child and his grandmother to cross the field with embers of burning wood..The Fire Walking Festival is held near Mount Takao every second Sunday of March. This year the programme of the Festival was shorter because of Covid19 pandemic, all people and some Monks were wearing face mask. The main attraction of Festival is the Monks walk barefoot across the embers of burning wood to cleanse themselves of evil spirits, pray for world peace, longevity, safe passage in life and general health and safety.
