FRANCE-TRAVEL-TRAIN
A cnductor of a steam train of the Compagnie Internationale des trains express a vapeur (CITEV), Jimmy Burel, is seen during its 13-kilometer route from Anduze to Saint Jean de Gardis, southern France, 22 July 2004. When the French state railways closed the Cevennes line 33 years ago it had become hopelessly uneconomic. But in the hands of the small private company that took it over, the CITEV, the line has become a solid success. This year, it is expecting to attract 140,000 visitors between April and November.
