SAFRICA-CARLSE-HORN-LAWYER
The lawyer Alwyn Briebenow (C) assisting Harry Carlse (L) and Lourens Horn (R) answers media questions at a press conferance at Johannesburg airport as they returned home, 28 August 2004. Harry and Lourens Horn are the two suspected mercenaries who were acquitted in Zimbabwe of coup plotting charges in connection with an alleged putsch in oil-rich Equatorial Guinea. Carlse and Horn told reporters they were beaten and mistreated at Harare-s maximum-security Chikurubi prison where they were detained since their arrest on March 7. "They beat us up for the first three weeks before we got access to our lawyers," . AFP PHOTO / ALEXANDER JOE
