The annual race on the longest span of the 42-bridge Florida Keys Overseas Highway got its start in 1982. Holly Smith of Marathon won the women's division with a time of 43 minutes and 23 seconds, while Collin Wainwright of Springfield, Penn., captured the overall men's division in 38:06.
