SAN SALVADOR, EL SALVADOR - JULY 03: Several mosquitoes that transmit dengue Aedes aegypti are studied in a container in the laboratory of the University of El Salvador within the framework of the Epidemiological Alert decreed by the Ministry of Health of El Salvador (MINSAL), in San Salvador, El Salvador on July 03, 2024. The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) issued epidemiological alerts for dengue, warning that this may be 'the worst dengue season' in the region. According to PAHO data, almost 9.9 million suspected cases of dengue were identified in the region until June. In El Salvador, until June, 3,463 suspected cases were found, 128 were confirmed and there were also 13 serious cases, as well as 187 hospitalizations due to dengue and three deaths.
