NOUA ZEELANDA - AMBARCATIUNE ELECTRICA - VESSEV

July 11, 2024: VIDEO AVAILABLE: CONTACT [email protected] TO RECEIVE**..Boatbuilder Vessev has announced the development of a groundbreaking fully electric vessel, the VS-9, which utilises advanced hydrofoil technology to float above the waves and use 90% less energy than a normal boat....The nine-metre-long VS-9 is engineered to carry up to 10 passengers at speeds of 25 knots. It features retractable hydrofoils that elevate the hull out of the water at speed, greatly reducing drag and boosting efficiency..According to Vessev, this innovative technology enables the VS-9 to achieve a 90% reduction in energy use, with a range of up to 50 nautical miles on a single charge..The VS-9 is compatible with existing electric charging stations, facilitating a swift and widespread adoption without the need for specialised infrastructure..The efficiency of the hydrofoil technology allows the VS-9 to leverage cutting-edge electric power systems and batteries. During a trial, the electricity cost for charging the VS-9 was 25 times less than the petrol cost for a conventional boat on the same route..Equipped with sensors and a system of underwater flaps, the VS-9 can continuously adjust to sea conditions, ensuring stability even in adverse weather..The hydrofoils not only reduce drag but also provide a smoother, quieter ride while maintaining a sleek design..Aimed at commercial sea transport and tourism operations, the VS-9 could open new routes that are difficult to access with traditional ferries due to its streamlined design. The vessel is currently undergoing sea trials at Auckland's Westhaven Marina in partnership with New Zealand's largest ferry operator, Fullers360, which plans to transition entirely to electric and hydrogen-powered vessels by 2040..Vessev is also looking to apply the technology and design of the VS-9 to larger vessels, with plans underway for a 100-passenger mode (Credit Image: © Cover Images via ZUMA Press)
