IRAQ-FRANCE-HOSTAGE

A file TV grab taken from a video tape broadcast by Al-Jazeera news channel shows 28 August 2004 French hostage Georges Malbrunot (top) of Paris daily Le Figaro, and Christian Chesnot of Radio France Internationale (down) with Arabic writing in the background reading "The Islamic Army in Iraq". The kidnappers from the Islamic Army in Iraq, reportedly sent an email to the London-based Islamic Observatory, a group which defends Muslim causes world-wide, saying they had "ended the detention of the two French hostages... who are now carrying out their work under an agreement" with the group. "The two journalists accepted, willingly and without being pressured, to cover the battles and attacks (by the resistance) and to film them for the Islamic Army for a set period," it said.
