TAIWAN - TAIFUNUL KONG-REY
HUALIEN, TAIWAN - NOVEMBER 01: A man surveys tons of driftwoods that are being washed offshore at a beach, after super typhoon Kong-Rey hit Taiwan, in Hualien, Taiwan, on November 1, 2024. According to Taiwan's Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, nearly 13,000 tons of driftwoods, all of which were collapsed in mountainous areas and city areas due to powerful winds and heavy rains brought by typhoon Kong-Rey, have been washed offshore along multiple coastal areas in Hualien. This is the effect of extreme weather events as climate change has brought more catastrophic and devastating weather conditions to East Asia and Southeast Asia, including Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam, China and Indonesia.
