IRAQ-SADR-ARMY-DISARM-SCHOOL-GIRLS
Iraqi school girls get back home passing by a heavy guarded police station in Baghdad-s Sadr City neighborhood, 11 October 2004, during the first day of disarming Sadr-s Mehdi Army. Sadr-s militia started handing in weapons today under a deal with the Iraqi government, while two US soldiers died in a Baghdad rocket attack. The deal with Sadr would shore up one flank for the US and Iraqi forces in the run-up to national polls, allowing them to concentrate on Fallujah, the epicenter of the Sunni Muslim insurgency, and other trouble spots around central Iraq.
