IRAQ-US-TROOPS-WOMEN
TO GO WITH AFP STORY IRAQ-MILITARY-WOMEN: US Army female soldiers with the 2-17 Field Artillery Regiment, Private Cherish Cooper (R) from Steamville, Texas, and Private Atiyhia Goldbold from New York prepare to go on a mission in Ramadi, west of Baghdad, 25 October 2004. Nineteen-year-old Cooper, who wears her blue eyeshadow when she goes out on deadly missions in the badlands of the Sunni Muslim triangle, and her comrade in arms, Godbold, 20, have hunted down snipers in Ramadi and tangled with insurgents on the perimeter of Fallujah. The pair are living their dreams of being hard-as-nails soldiers -- as bad as the boys, all the while insisting on their lip gloss and mascara even if their hair is not shampooed.
