German Greens group co-president Daniel Cohn-Bendit gives a speech during an EU Parliament session 26 October 2004 in Strasbourg. Socialists and others in the 732-member EU assembly have threatened to reject the incoming Commission led by Jose Barroso of Portugal over the nmination of controversial EU justice commissioner Rocco Buttiglione, who sparked a storm last month by saying that homosexuality was a sin and that women-s place was to have children and be protected by their husbands.
