US-ELECTION-POLLING
A voter walks into a polling station in southeast Washington, DC 02 November, 2004 as polling is under way to choose between incumbent Republican President George W. Bush and Democratic challenger John Kerry. Some 156 million Americans are eligible to vote in one of the tightest presidential elections in recent history. Although voter turnout is unpredictable, analysts believe it will be markedly higher than the 106 million in 2000. AFP PHOTO NICHOLAS KAMM
