IRAQ-US-TROOPS
A US Marine from the 2nd Batallion, 24th Marines expeditionary unit, is silhoueted against the sunrise as he rides on a truck leaving the forward operating base St. Michael in the central Iraqi city of Mahmudiya, south of Baghdad, 09 December 2004. A wanted Iraqi insurgent leader who battled US forces in Fallujah, Sheikh Abdullah al-Janabi, has vowed to continue his resistance until Americans leave Iraq, in a statement obtained by AFP.
