NASA outgoing Administrator Sean O-Keefe talks with reporters during a press conference to discuss his departure after heading the nations space program 17 December, 2004 at NASA headquarters in Washington, DC. O-Keefe on 13 December resigned after three years in charge of the US space agency, which is still reeling from the 2003 Columbia shuttle disaster. NASA spokesman Glenn Mahone said O-Keefe had sent a letter of resignation to President George W. Bush earlier in the day, and it was accepted. He was expected to leave the agency about 01 February after a successor is named, the official added.
