MOROCCO-HUMAN RIGHTS-AHKOU
Abdellah Hidou, former prisoner of the Tazmamart detention camp and one of the victims of human rights abuse during Morocco-s "annees de plomb" (The Lead Years) testifies 22 December 2004 during public hearings organized by the Equity and Reconciliation Commission (IER) in Rabat. The hearings are set to bring to light repression by the government of far left groups and popular uprisings between 1960 and 1990. Around 200 selected victims of human rights violations from several regions will recount their suffering, whilst being unable to name their torturers, a condition criticized by Moroccan human rights groups.
