SURFING-AUSTRALIA-BRAZIL-WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Pablo Paulino of Brazil is carried from the water by ecstatic Brazilian teammates moments after clinching the 2005 Billabong World Junior Championships title, keeping the prestige crown within the Brazilian nation, in Sydney 08 January 2005. Paulino was a standout throughout the event, posting some of the highest heat scores and single wave scores consistently. The relatively unknown Brazilian continued his superb form in the finals, leaving his opponent Dustin Cuizon from Hawaii needing a combination of scores totalling 17.34 (out of 20) to catch up. The Billabong World Junior Championship features six man squads from the seven ASP regions; Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Hawaii, North and South America and three wildcards. AFP PHOTO
