(FILES) Photo dated 09 November 2003 shows Guatemalan indigenous leader Rigoberta Menchu waving after casting her ballot during general elections in Guatemala City. Guatemala has proposed the 1992 Nobel peace prize winner as new head of the Organization of American States (OAS), President Oscar Berger said 08 January 2005. Human rights defender, Menchu, who turns 46 on 09 January, has told Berger she is willing to do the job. Berger said Menchu-s candidacy is likely to win continent-wide consensus from other OAS members. So far, Chilean interior minister Jose Miguel Insulza, Mexican foreign minister Luis Ernesto Derbez and ex-Salvadoran president Francisco Flores are battling for the job to replace Miguel Angel Rodriguez who stepped aside to defend himself from corruption charges dating from his presidency of Costa Rica.
