NETHERLANDS-SERBIA-MILOSEVIC-ROYA
(FILES) A picture dated 24 April 2003 shows Mabel Wisse-Smit in Amsterdam. Yugoslav former president Slobodan Milosevic, on trial here for war crimes, once ordered Mabel Wisse-Smit, a Dutch woman, to be kidnapped in Brussels to try to get information on a Bosnian envoy to the United Nations, a newspaper reported here 29 January 2005. But he called off the mission because it might damage the Serbian cause, the newspaper Telegraf quoted Belgrade legal sources as saying. Milosevic ordered the kidnapping in 1993 of Mabel Wisse Smit, now wife of Prince Johan Friso, the second son of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, because she was in a relationship at the time with former Bosnian UN envoy Mohammed Sacirbey.
