IRAQ-UNREST-DEMO
Iraqis demonstrate 18 April 2005, in central Baghdad-s Fardous (Paradise Square) with banners reading, "No safe, no security.... on the road to Kut" and photos of loved ones they say were kidnapped in the area south of Baghdad which has become one of the country-s most dangerous regions due to insurgent activity. Iraqi forces today failed to find any hostages or signs of killings after regaining control of al-Madain town, 30 kilomters (18 miles) south of Baghdad, where Sunni gunmen were reported to be threatening to kill 80 Shiite residents, after a three day stand-off fueled by rumors and suspicions.
