US pop star Michael Jackson-s lead defense attorney Thomas Mesereau Jr. arrives at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse in Santa Maria, California, 03 May 2005. Jackson was a spendaholic mired in debt, jurors in his child sex trial heard, as prosecutors pushed a financial motive for the pop icon-s alleged abduction of his young accuser. Forensic accountant John Duross O-Bryan testified that Jackson-s finances had deteriorated into a full-blown cash crisis by February 2003, when the broadcast of a damaging documentary threatened to completely derail his faltering career.
