ETHIOPIA-POLITICS-ELECTIONS-UNREST
A young Ethiopian lays 09 June 2005 in his hospital bed on his way back from the surgery where he had hil left foot amputated after he has been injured during yesterday-s unrest in Addis Ababa. Police were out in force in the tense and near-deserted streets of the Ethiopian capital Thursday, a day after clashes with protestors demonstrating against the results of last month-s elections killed more than 20 people. The city-s normally ubiquitous blue-and-white Lada taxicabs and mini-buses were nowhere to be seen as a strike by drivers, called in sympathy with the protestors, entered a second day despite orders from the Addis Ababa administration for a return to work.
