FRANCE-STORE-SAMARITAINE
Employees of the landmark Paris department store La Samaritaine listen to trade-unions leaders speeches, 15 June 2005, before an extrordinary meeting with the direction. The department store is to close today for years, perhaps for ever, after inspectors found that the century-old building by the Seine river falls catastrophically short of fire safety norms.
