SPAIN-BASQUE-IBARRETXE-OATH
Moderate Basque nationalist Juan Jose Ibarretxe (L) addresses Basque parlamentarians after being sworn in, 25 June 2005, as Lehendakari (Basque Government president), in the northern Spanish Basque town of Guernica. Ibarretxe swore the oath in the Basque language Euskera, under the Guernica oak tree and with his hand lying on the first Bible in Euskera, published in London in 1859.
