NEPAL-MEDIA-PROTEST
Former president of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Taranath Dahal (C) along with foreign jounalists, who expressed solidarity for the freedom of the press movement, hold dead mobile phones at Nayan Baneswor in Kathmandu, 14 July 2005. At least 17 foreign journalists from the International Advocacy Mission for Press Freedom in Nepal expressed solidarity during the continuing media protest rally demanding freedom of the press and protesting the government-s planned new law to muzzle the press. The law will come into effect once it receives Royal assent. Over 1,000 FM radio journalists were thrown out of their jobs after the FM Radio stations were prohibited from newscasting since King Gyanendra-s power grab in Feburary. AFP PHOTO/DEVENDR A M SINGH
