An unidentified police officer armed with an assault rifle points, 11 January 2006, to bullet holes that tore through the partly burned metal enclosure housing transmitter equipment at the base of a Globe Telecom mobile telephone relay tower in the town of Penaranda, north of Manila. Communist New People-s Army rebels firebombed and opened fire on the facility, 09 January as part of an extortion attempt to force the company to pay "revolutionary tax" to the insurgents.
